{"id":2374,"date":"2026-02-27T19:53:03","date_gmt":"2026-02-27T17:53:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ludovicocaldara.net\/dba\/?p=2374"},"modified":"2026-02-27T19:53:03","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T17:53:03","slug":"dg26ai-switchover-readiness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ludovicocaldara.net\/dba\/dg26ai-switchover-readiness\/","title":{"rendered":"Data Guard 26ai &#8211; #21: Switchover and failover readiness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"auto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ludovicocaldara.net\/dba\/dg-26ai-series\/\">This post is part of a blog series.<\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">Until now, checking whether a database was ready to switch over or fail over meant running the VALIDATE DATABASE command through DGMGRL: there was no direct SQL alternative, and the VALIDATE DATABASE command isn&#8217;t available with other broker interfaces.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">In Data Guard 26ai, the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.oracle.com\/en\/database\/oracle\/oracle-database\/26\/refrn\/V-DG_BROKER_CONFIG.html\">V$DG_BROKER_CONFIG<\/a> view now includes two new columns: SWITCHOVER_READY and FAILOVER_READY.
