These packages are accessible even when databases are mounted (but not necessarily open).<\/p>\n<p>The broker now uses these fixed packages, and so do other components outside the \u201cdgmgrl\u201d tool. With Oracle 26ai, we are exposing these internal PL\/SQL functions through the wrapper package <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.oracle.com\/en\/database\/oracle\/oracle-database\/26\/dgbkr\/dbms_dg-api-summary.html\">DBMS_DG<\/a>.<br \/>\nStarting with Oracle 26ai, you can use over 30 PL\/SQL functions (all documented in the Data Guard Broker Administration Guide) to programmatically configure and manage Data Guard broker configurations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ludovicocaldara.net\/dba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/dg26ai-plsql-api-scaled.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2334\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ludovicocaldara.net\/dba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/dg26ai-plsql-api-1024x409.png\" alt=\"examples of PL\/SQL calling DBMS_DG package\" width=\"584\" height=\"233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ludovicocaldara.net\/dba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/dg26ai-plsql-api-1024x409.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.ludovicocaldara.net\/dba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/dg26ai-plsql-api-300x120.png 300w, https:\/\/www.ludovicocaldara.net\/dba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/dg26ai-plsql-api-768x307.png 768w, https:\/\/www.ludovicocaldara.net\/dba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/dg26ai-plsql-api-1536x614.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.ludovicocaldara.net\/dba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/dg26ai-plsql-api-2048x818.png 2048w, https:\/\/www.ludovicocaldara.net\/dba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/dg26ai-plsql-api-500x200.png 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a>This change makes automation more robust: instead of shell commands like AWK or grep, you can rely on programmatic PL\/SQL APIs.
